Who is Jesus to me?
When I was about 1 year old, my Uncle named Papa Loloy ( as I call him) loves me so much as his own, and that he brings me with him wherever he goes. Until one day while I was caressed in the arms of my Papa Loloy, our neighbor came to sell a knife to him. Yet he refused to buy such thing, with that Uncle Poldo got angry and uses the knife to stub my Papa Loloy. Just a couple of seconds before the incident, I was given by my Papa Loloy to my auntie Mama Ellen (as I call her) to take good care of me as he entertained his friend Uncle Poldo. As my auntie was relating all of this to me, I feel so blessed to be still alive. The Lord has been my Savior. He had saved me from death.
Other instance was that during our Encounter God Retreat in Church @ Baloy. I was 12 year old then when I was freed and delivered from anger and hatred towards my father. I was healed from the dark past I had; healed from sexual abuse of my Uncle Peter and Uncle in law Uncle Jerry. As young as I was before, I grew in a physically and sexually abused family. I started to question a lot of things the, “Grabeh... ngano man jud oi? La na gani tay papa la pa jud respeto and mga tao sa palibot, ga take advantage pa.” For the second time around the Lord saved me from falling apart, He had given me hope when I was released from my dark and awful past to the light of forgiveness and full of His love with acceptance of who I am.
As a product of a broken family, I was also dreaming to finish my tertiary education. Since the time the Lord and I had established a father-daughter relationship, He had proved to me that I can still be in a University through touching the hearts of Compassion-International sponsors, Leadership Development Program (Scholarship). Now I am one of their Batch 14 LDP Scholars.
Give a name/title or image of Jesus:
Due to all the experiences I had in my childhood and youth days, I had this image of a heavenly Father who is always there to protect, guide and provide all my needs. Since I had Christ in my life, I feel so secure, for I know that He is with. He knows every thought. He sees each tear of pains that fall. Understand and sympathize for my longing and despair as an abandoned one.
Though I don’t have a biological father, He-the Lord has been there for me in times of my weaknesses, ups and downs. He who supports me in every life’s challenges. He who protects me from any plot of violence. He guides me as I journey in this earth. He leads me in his hands to forgive myself and others as He had forgiven me in my lapses. He is my Father who loves unconditionally, Protector, Deliverer and Provider.
A father walks hand in hand with her daughter. A lovely picture, that reminds me that the Lord will never leave nor forsake me. Not like my biological father did. Now that I’m almost turning 18 this June, it has been always my prayer to see my father again. I want to dance with him and tell him that I had forgiven him for all the things he had done to us. That I love him, and miss him so much.
Evaluate number 2:
As of today the Lord continue to be my father. He had provided my needs as a student. Ha had given me a Full scholarship with a stipend covered all the expenses from meals, clothing, boarding house and books. Not only that, He also developed my self-esteem through educational programs conducted by the scholarship program every summer such as our Annual Youth Congress held in different parts in the country.
He didn’t stop protecting me, in fact he had given a second chance to enjoy life in its fullness in abiding in His grace. He had let me stay in a pad with my co-scholars to be safe against physical, verbal and sexual abuse of people who I thought before my family. He had healed all of my sickness.
He is my Deliverer as well. He continues the process of deliverance of my past life and molding me to a better person. Simple programs here in the university like FFP help me to gauge the demands of the real world. He delivers me from hatred to love. Form death to life.
I am so blessed with the song Who am I with its lyrics:
I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow, waves tossed in the ocean…
still You hear me when I’m calling Lord You catch me when I’m falling and you told me who I am… I am Yours. Whom shall I fear, I am Yours.
I am so blessed that I can’t stop to tell the world that I have nothing before. However as Christ stepped in my life, He has been my everything. I am broken but now in a process of healing and equipping.
I am so happy to have this activity sir in our class. To God be the glory forever!
