Medina. Reneilda Simoun, accessory vendor is stalled beside the ongoing construction of Medina terminal. “ sulod sa kwarentay sais nako nga pagkahimugso aning Medina, karun pajud mi na ka baton og kaugalingong terminal”, she bubbled happily. Attending to his salable accessory items, she shared to me how their mayor is working on the development of their municipality. She shared that the residents are so excited to the terminal to be done and looking forward that their municipality will soon be “bibo”, the vendors like her will be given the chance to be formally legally stalled inside the market or in the terminal.
The said project has been started since April 6, 2011 funded by Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan. The implementing office, Department of Public Works and Highways- Region 10 has a contract cost of three million for this project. The target completion of construction will be on September 2 this year.
One of the workers whom I had interviewed was a resident of the said community for 30 years. He told me that they are more or less 20 workers for the ongoing construction of this Multi-purpose building (Municipal Public Terminla). However the work was so light for him because he was not just working for the sake of the wage but he was also excited of their first terminal to be realized. He also added that there are also other developments in their community. “naa poy gitukod bag-o lang na Motor pool sa unahan...” he added, “didto gi na junk ang mga guba na motor parts dayon ayohon pod sa libre…, pero terminal pod to siya dadto.” He also expresses, "Pero aside pa pod ana, naa pod mi gihulatan na ma improve pod dani sa amua… kanang among hospital.”
According to manong worker (who didn’t want to be named), the hospital has been constructed two years ago but until now there is still no materials, tools and health personnel to be consulted by the residents. “Hinaot, ma aksyonan na tana na sa amuang mga officials dani, ky lisod man jud kayo ang pagpatambal sa amua kung magsakit kami ky layo paman amu adtoan…sa Ginoog or Cagayan pami mudayo aron lang mag patambal….”
Though the municipality has health centers, it is not sufficient to attend the residents’ needs of health care. Now medina is in the process of progress. They had newly constructed roads, plaza, tourist spots- Alibuag Cold Spring, Motor pool and the on going construction of Medina Public Terminal. But they are still calling to their officials to attend also their health care needs, a hospital that will have efficient tools, materials and health personnel.
